In january 2011 InterInspection has been in South Africa. Together with Swedish and South African investors we investigated the feasibility of a possible establishment of a factory for producing housing units and the formation of a development company in Cape Town.
The business concept is based on manufacturing and construction of single-family homes, primarily for people living in informal settlements witch are offered permanent accomodation through a goverment-sponsored low cost house program.
Manufacturing and production will mainly be carried out by local staffs that are offered training and employment.
A first show house is currently under construction and there is already great interest among both the authorities and "Developers" for the concept.
The needs is enormous. Just around Cape Town estimated 240.000 households live  in shacks.
The project is a Social Investment which primarily is based on the princip of "self-help".
